about the book....

They both wanted quieter, safer lives.
But crime never sleeps . . .
and killers keep killing.

After years as a Chicago homicide detective, Lisa Grant is ready for the kinder, gentler life of a small-town police chief. But the discovery of a human skeleton by a construction crew at the edge of town taxes department resources. Enter ex-Navy SEAL Mac McGregor, the detective sent by the county to assist on the case. As they work to solve the mystery behind the unmarked grave, danger begins to shadow them. Someone doesn't want this dead person telling any tales--and will stop at nothing to make certain a life-shattering secret stays buried.

my review....

Irene Hannon's latest novel will have reader's hearts aflutter as she launches a brand-new series with "Buried Secrets", featuring a healthy dose of suspense, murder, and sizzling romance. The first couple of chapters are guaranteed to pull you into the story and have you anxious to see what kind of people would bury a secret the way that these ones do! Soon into the story you will meet Lisa and Mac and watch the sparks of romance begin to fly from the moment they cross each other's paths. Fans of romantic novels are going to love the way that Hannon unfolds their relationship, because although you might guess where they are going to end up, readers won't be exactly sure how they are going to get there. For myself, I didn't find "Buried Secrets" to have quite the level of non-stop suspense as other books she's written. And perhaps it was the heavy dose of romance that made me lose interest a little bit as I read through the story. Though I can enjoy watching characters fall in love as much as the next reader, this story was a bit more romance driven than I was expecting. That said, female readers are Hannon's primary audience, and I have no doubt that they are going to not only love the intriguing plot, but will appreciate the way the story sets their pulse to racing at the same time!

Fans of Irene Hannon will want to check out her latest novel, which is sure to launch another successful series that her loyal fans will devour up.

I mildly recommend this novel and award it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
