Camden has once again crafted a novel starring intriguing characters and a plot that will keep you glued to the pages from the opening scene to the final satisfying paragraph. I was immediately swept up in the plight of Lucy and her brother Nick, fighting a legal battle that has engulfed their entire lives. As someone who has a strong sense of justice myself, I can only imagine how difficult such a situation would be, particularly where members of an extended family are the ones who are causing the division and cheating Lucy and Nick from what really should be their share of the family inheritance.
The historical details in "A Dangerous Legacy" are rich and really add depth to the story, and I quite liked learning about the rival news agencies and the significance of the transatlantic cable, something I was not really familiar with before. The character's use of the telegraph and Morse code not only add interesting elements to their careers, but play quite a role in the overall plot as well (not to mention the delightful addition of the homing pigeons to the story)! Lucy and Colin's friendship and seemingly inevitable romance leads them into quite the capers indeed, and I enjoyed unravelling the intrigue and mystery along with these characters. And, what I also appreciated is the way that the author uses the novel to really take a look at what matters in life, that the best dreams don't involve having all the money in the world (or even righting every wrong on this side of heaven).

Camden's writing continues to be top-notch, and I award this novel a high 4.5 out of 5 stars.
